Incredibly beautiful and magical place and you can understand it as you approach Malga Montasio. Take the A4 motorway towards Udine, exit at Tolmezzo and follow the signs for Amaro-Chiusaforte where you will find the signs for Sella Nevea. From the village there are 16 km of winding and steep road but the view will be breathtaking. About 1 km before the hut there is a large parking lot, we have decided to mount our bicycles there and face the last uphill stretch where the great champions of the Giro d’Italia passed in 2013. You reach 1500m and you are surrounded by the chains of the Canin and the Montasio, you ride between the grazing cows and after the fatigue you can eat at the hut and rest on the deckchairs surrounded by silence. Before leaving, don’t forget to buy dairy products at the point of sale. The place is quiet and safe, Axel and Erran cycled alone along the various routes while Ethan played and I relaxed. I couldn’t ask for better. If you want to stay in the area and still ride through enchanting landscapes, you can sleep at the former Chiusaforte railway station, along the famous Alpe Adria cycle path, where you can rent bicycles or adjust them if you have run into any fault.
